Job Summary
Under the general supervision of the Laboratory Manager, the Phlebotomist assumes the responsibility for performing venipuncture and related procedures under the philosophy, policies, and procedures established by the clinic, hospital and department.
Qualifications - Minimum
High School graduate or equivalent
Medical assistant or phlebotomy certification preferred
Experience as a phlebotomist in a hospital setting preferred
Current certification in Basic Life Support for the Healthcare Provider (HCP) by the American Heart Association
Excellent customer relations skills
Mathematical, verbal, and written skills at the high school level
PHYSICIAL DEMANDS ? (ADA Specifications)
Stand for long periods of time with bending at the waist
Frequent gloving and washing of hands
Work with needles, syringes, tubes and body fluids
Ability to use both hands, arms, and legs
Ability to read, write, speak, see, walk and occasionally run or move rapidly
Ability to perform the physical aspects of CPR
Ability to lift and carry up to 30 pounds
Manual dexterity
Frequent contact with water (hand washing and cleaning). Biohazardous body fluids, and hazardous chemicals
Sufficient noise and interruptions to cause distraction and stress
Hazardous working conditions in which individual is exposed to definite risk of bodily injury through contact with moving instrumentation, chemicals, and/or body fluids

This is for a PRN day shift phlebotomist with holiday and weekend rotation.

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
